Während die Regierung mit der von ihr in Auftrag gegebenen Gedenk-Eventreihe „25 Peaces” für Vergessen und Vermarktung sorgt, erinnerte ein Projekt im öffentlichen Raum daran, dass das Jubiläumsjahr mit der Rolle Österreichs als NS-Nachfolgestaat in Verbindung steht:
Am 8. April 2005 wurde um 12 Uhr im Ostarrichi-Park vor dem Landesgericht ein temporäres MONUMENT FÜR DIE NIEDERLAGE enthüllt, das eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Entnazifizierungsprozessen auslösen und die bis heute unvollendete Entnazifizierung zum Thema machte. Das achtseitige Objekt war als monumentaler Sockel konzipiert und maß 2,07 m Höhe mit einem Umfang von 11,20 m.
Das MONUMENT FÜR DIE NIEDERLAGE war ein temporäres Projekt für den öffentlichen Raum, das als eintägige Intervention konzipiert war. Dementsprechend war das Objekt lediglich am 8. April 2005 vor Ort zu sehen.
